The Embodiment Project

Boise, ID

The Embodiment Project: an inter-generational women's art collective that honors and celebrates the body through plaster casting and the pure creative process.

What does your body mean to you?

This is your chance to explore that question so often muddled by media and outside forces…

Be a part of this local art project by casting your torso in a safe, fun space and taking it home to make some sort of 3-D art out of it, to be shown at the Henhouse the weekend of July 26th and 27th, 2008.

WOMEN AND GIRLS (OF ALL AGES) ONLY, PLEASE
For info on upcoming casting parties and how to get involved contact Chrystal Sowell at embodimentproject@gmail.com

Torso-Casting Womanifesto:
Each woman involved in The Embodiment Project casts a mold of her outer shell, reflects on it, and creates some visual expression using it.

Torso casting gatherings:
*Create a supportive community of women of all ages, which is something that is tragically lacking for many of us.
*Open dialogue between us and the people in our lives about issues surrounding the role of women in society.
*Provide a safe and liberating space to undertake the often difficult task of becoming comfortable with, and even loving, respecting and owning our bodies.
*Give us a dynamic outlet to reflect and express our own unique and often unheard truths through our minds, our hands, and our bodies.
*Foster a creative response to the unrealistic body images and gender stereotypes that bombard us daily via the corporate media.
